Is Matthew Just Inventing Stuff?

This is one of those that is a headge scratcher. Riht, it's very possible for a christian reader to day to read this text and be like, oye, that's in the old testament somewhere,. I have no doubt that that happened and iwnt continued to happen. And what i'm trying to suggest is, no, he's actually following the same kind of story trajectory that we saw at the beginning with the genealogy and all these different scriptural citations. He is priming us to see the whole gospel as the divita king coming to liberate his people from exile, so that we might all participate in this one mission of god story.
