Tales of Ise - A Brief History

The original entries of tales of ise are from ariwaran onari hira's personal collection of his own writings. Some time in the mid nine hundreds, with nari hira having died in eight 80, the text was expanded with a new series of anecdotes and poems. It seems pretty clear that the person who wrote it was not a big fan of the northern fuji wara or the chosen emperor sewa.
