Psalm 55 is an individual prayer. The words in both the greek translation of the psalms and the hebrew for contrite means crushed. We can't create a clean heart in ourselves. And that's why that verse i mention, verse ten, creates me a clean heart, re new, a right spirit. I don't know if any of your listeners are familiar with the chichester psalms by bernstein. It was an attempt to kind of recreate these psalms for a modern audience. So they're actually done in hebrew with timpany harp and one other instrument, very spare accompaniment.
