Carbon Dioxide in the Air

A forest breathes carbon in, stores it in its trunks and branches. As the plants die, insects eat them and release carbon dioxide back to the atmosphere. The roots and soil under the forest too are chock full of carbon that was once floating up in the atmosphere.
