Travellers' Encampment on Public Land
Most travellers and gipsies, the large majority, do not encamp on illegal public land. Many of them now make private arrangements with private landowners where they agree to keep plots of land clean in exchange for being able to camp. But many other landowners simply say travellers are unwelcome and try to evict them immediately. The laws now require planning approval from local councils before you can use even a piece of privately owned land as a sighte for an encampment. It's become more and more of a large sea conservative issue to try to eliminate or move away these traveller sites.
