The Story of a Japanese American in the Middle of the War
Obatrima and her family were stranded in Japan during World War II. She wanted to go back to California, where she had lived as a child. Obatrima's mother was interned on the night of December 7 when U.S. forces captured the Mariana Islands. Her story is similar to that of many other Japanese Americans who immigrated to the United States.
