The History of the Skull and Bones Society

The founding members of the Skull and Bones Society were all attending Yale during the 1832-1833 school year. William Huntington Russell, who we mentioned, Alfonso Taft, we've also mentioned. George Ingersoll Wood was a Congressionalist clergyman born in Stanford, Connecticut in 1814. Frederick Ellsworth Mather lived from 1810 to 1850 after making director of New Haven Hospital where he practiced medicine until 1849 at which point he sailed to California with some dysentery.
