Is There a Definition of Addiction?

Catechism of the catholic church, paragraph two, two nine zero have anything to say about people's addiction to coffee. I'm not a big fan of the concept of adiction, because when people say someone's an addict, they'r implying a moral censure. And i think that people who abuse various substances have more control than they are often credited for. It's a disempowering message to tell some one you're an addect, and and so forth.
