Is There a Difference Between Research and Industry?

I think in academia we tend to have a preference for things that are more complicated. The interesting thing in my career is that I spent 25 years working as he mentioned in a government lab and so that was very much applied research. So I guess I spent a lot of my career using and appreciating that sort of practical side. If it's a sufficient solution that's good then we can move on and we can look at the next problem rather than just spending all your time stuck at the first problem. Okay got a solution to this one. Tick let's move on to the next one. Find a solution for that that works tick and then move on.
