The Barrier of the Central Nervous System

Astrocites have arms that wrap around blood vessels of the central nervous system. They help to create what we call the 'blood brain barrier' This is one of three or four barriers in the central nervous System, which separates it from rest of body. If a toxic drug crosses this barrier and damages the brain, its not a good outcome.
