You can only push a great power armed with nuclear weapons so far. In your view, it's still not worth the risk is what you're saying. Of course not. And this is what Kennedy and Khrushchev understood during the Cuban Missile Crisis. This bothers many people in the West. They think they should be free to do whatever they want to the Russians. You can't do that because they have nuclear weapons. And the threat of nuclear war is ever-present.
