It's been a while since we've covered continental Europe. This isn't due to lack of sophistication, or dearth of substantial developments in the period. We have too much evidence with too long a tradition of study. The schemes that past scholars used to organize the material they found can have a warping influence on our ability to understand the times. Our broach styles and sword types really representative of whole cultural groupings and periods? Maybe not,. But if you've got three generations of archaeologists who use that terminology and organizational scheme, it will shape how future people understand what they're looking at.
