The Science of Reading Training at Calypso Elementary School
Bethlehem School District gives kindergartners a test to see where they are with early reading skills. The year before the science of reading training began, 65% of kindergartners at this school tested below the benchmark score. After the kindergarten teachers were trained, zero kindergartner at Calypso finished the year at risk of reading failure. Two years in a row, every single kindergartner was at or above the benchmark score on the reading test.
