The Hard Problem of Consciousness
A lot of the infrastructure, the basic foundational ideas with social science come straight out of classical mechanics and Newtonian thinking in the 19th century. And so we still work with those Newtonian assumptions deep in our conceptual ways of thinking. So let's talk about consciousness itself for a minute and talk about the hard problem. The mind body problem where we are making this assumption that a piece of meat can be conscious and it just doesn't quite comprehend.
