Does the Church Really Have the Authority to Demand This?

There's no passage in the Bible that says going to mass every Sunday is a mortal sin if you don't. Does the church actually have the authority to demand this? Right. And so first of all, we need to take a step back and ask the question,. Is such a ceremonial precept open and available for the church to do so?
