I think it's very clear that the amount of international energy export in a renewable world is going to be vastly less than in a fossil fuel world. Almost every country has enough solar and or wind to go alone. Japan has enormous offshore wind resources and enormous opportunity for agri-solar so it really can be self-sufficient even in densely populated country like Japan. Some countries may choose to import chemical energy in the form of ammonia or synthetic jet fuel rather than make their own synthetic jet fuel. It could be that Australia finds a big export market in exporting iron rather than iron oxide. I've been heavily influenced by the work your team has done at looking at say 100% renewables for Japan
