The moral and civi laws as they were given in the old testament are actually just ex explications of the law to love your neighbor as yourself, applied to all sorts circumstances. John has a fascinating take on how the laws are given in response to different things that the israelites did or didn't do. In the hebrew scriptures, there are actualy sets of laws that are given over time in response to particular courses of rebellion or idolatry,.
