Is EEG the Best Method to Capture Brain Activity?

EEG is looking from the outside and trying to understand what's going on deep inside the brain. ECOG, electrocorticogram sits just on the surface of the brain or even invasive recordings where we put very thin needle electrodes into the brain. So obviously there you get a richer amount of information about what's happening, but at a cost in terms of you have to have surgery.
