Spotify's Price Increases Are a Lift to Gross Profit
Spotify is raising prices, but it's only collecting two-thirds of its $740 million in revenue. Two-thirds goes to labels and rights holders; a third will go straight to the bottom line. It seems unlikely they got better on their margins over the last five years. The problem is operating expenses and the gross margins on all the podcast investments which they seem to have overdone.
