The IRA and the United States of America

There is nothing involved in any decision that we are making that remotely resembles politics or ideology. Everything we're doing is really based on decisions and warnings coming from the top level of our scientific community around the world. We need to accelerate our efforts to affect this transition to clean energy. Big companies, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, the German car industry already have spent billions of dollars retooling their factories. And I just came from the G7 meeting in Japan, where we agreed, seven of the largest economies of the world, that we are targeting 50% of the sales of vehicles by 2030. That's a remarkable statement by seven big industrial countries.
