Paying off your mortgage is a more powerful stress relief if it's your primary residence. If you have 80% of your net worth in your primary residence and you pay off your mortgage, you're going to feel really good. But if on the other hand, your property is worth 10% or 5% or a couple percent of yournet worth, you're not going to feel that emotional victory as much.
