Taylor: The monoliths themselves and the alien civilization is a race of AIs. I don't know if that's what you were implying at all, Taylor. No. Explain. So I have to admit, I've never given that much thought to what the aliens are. I've sort of always just lived open ended in my mind. And I think that they never quite decided, we talked a little bit before about how they might have had aliens in the movie and wisely decided not to.
