The Importance of Democracy

In 1999, Turkmenistan's president promised his people democracy. After the election, Niya Niazov was declared unfit to be president. The opposition was repressed with leading dissidents either imprisoned or committed to psychiatric hospitals. This week marks the 10th anniversary of 9-11; we'll look back on that day in a minute.
