Is There a Statistically Significant Effect of X on Y?

Any adjective that applies to statistics should only be applied to statistics. You cannot have a statistically significant effect of X because there is an effect of X on Y but you don't know what that effect is. So the phrase statistically significant effect gets used a lot as if that statistically significant somehow modifies. I see the effect which in reality is an effect on itself, like a true effect.
