A Review of Fairbairn

Farbairn was originally headed for the ministry in the presbyterian church of scotland. The church suggested that he instead should go to medical school and do saciatry, because it wanted him to establish pastoral councelling. He completed psychiatric training, and for some time he served as a consultant to a an agency dealing with te families and children. And one of the things that caught his attention, really shaped his thinking, was that over and over again, he observed children who had been taken from terribly depriving and abusive homes where they were improperly fed and clothed or possibly sexually abused.
