"When someone goes to an institution that has the reasonable expectation of being able to help the trauma stop, and then they refuse to do so ... you have institutional betrayal." She adds: "The incredible amount of shame and guilt and trauma that is related to sexual abuse makes it overwhelmingly freezing to the victim"
