Historiansplaining: A historian tells you why everything you know is wrong
The Viking Wars of the Early 800s
Viking voyages went all the way to ireland so initially it seemed some raiders reached ireland in the early 800s by 820 they had circled all the way around the island. In 841 Norsemen found an outpost on the irish sea which then becomes the town of dublin and they hold some territory around dublin but they were eventually ousted by other irish powers in 902. Lastly the last wave of viking expansion that we have to consider is the discovery and colonization of previously uninhabited islands in the north atlantic.
