In 2016, Congress passed the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act. The law expanded access to addiction treatment medications like suboxone. But it also had unintended consequences for pregnant women and new mothers on medication. Reveal found at least 40 babies put into foster care after their mothers were reported for taking addiction treatment meds during pregnancy.
