Marilyn Lovell tried to get Jim Lovell's wife to come and talk to him. Marilyn had been nervously following the mission through her squawk box speaker at home. She'd even been able to hear her husband's voice as he worked to keep his spacecraft flying. The idea of going to mission control, putting on a headset and actually speaking to him was just too much.
