Free form fighting isn't associated with most of the Jiu Jitsu schools that I see today. In part, it's because as time's gone on, the idea of accepting challenges has very much fallen out of favor. The genius of Judo founder Jiguro Kono was that he threw out a bunch of the quote, more deadly techniques and replaced them with less deadly ones you could fight to get.
