The better than average heuristic claims that people have a tendency to rate themselves or to assimilate positively evaluated social objects toward ideal trait conceptions. So it, so they end up overestimating their own abilities. And this is what we see as a part of a larger phenomenon, which is called illusory superiority. It's not a statistical bias. We can't all be better than average.
