i spent the whole first half of the book just explaining what memetic desire is and how it works. We always are more concerned about and measure ourselves against people that are sort of separated from us by some kind of social space. There's something about proximity that really matters to us, and that has everything to do with mometic desire. And this is happening all the time. Like every second of our waking lives, we're taking in cues from social media, from our friends, from our family, from what we watch on the news. I mean, i can't give enough examples of this from you know, childhood to adolescence.
