Should Designers Be Able to Code?

As designers, we should understand the material we are designing with. We shouldn't try making a developer experience without understanding the developers. This doesn't mean to say we have to be doctors and nurses just to be able to make a healthcare app as a UXer. If we can help the developers with the experience that they're having, then they can help us deliver a better experience down the line.
