The Importance of Chess in Computers

There's so many possible positions in chess that you can't just raw calculate from the beginning to the end and say well this is the best move in every position. Chess has been studied all the way back to the beginning of computers for good reason because we saw it as a great achievement amongst human beings. So if a computer does well in it, it means it didn't just get lucky. We consider chess a great intellectual achievement when a human being is good at it.
