Shabby Chic - Isn't It Cool?

Once Shabby Chic has gone from being an actual recycling of rich people things to brand new things made to look like they are old and recycled, the semiotics of that original conversation of class is gone. All they see is that you go to an expensive store and you buy something that looks like the paints been scraped off of it. What does that symbolize anymore? It's just another finish, right?
