There's been an assumption and a very common rhetoric that these wars have not been present in the American public sphere they've been invisible. The vast majority of people who die in wars post-second world war 85 or civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan it's civilians, says Peter Bergen. If there ever is a moral equivalence drawn or even mentioned it's between American soldiers and Iraqi and Afghan etc civilians those are not the same experiences of war according to Bergen.
