It's just annoying to have full screen notification come up telling you about your latest text message or calendar event. So having it scrolled down, you er, you know, kind of fold down from the top, you can see what it is. And if it is something that's important t you want to know about right, then you can tap on it and see it. But if it's not, you can go back to it later, which i think is the right approach.
