The Battle Outside the Russian Parliament

The New York Times' Serge Schminman has a prime spot overlooking the battle outside the Russian parliament. The tanks were surrounded, mobbed by a crowd and got themselves trapped in there. Young men hurled rocks, a Molotov cocktails. Two men climbed on board of one of the tanks. Then one of the hundred personnel carriers caught fire. And as the smoke cleared, three protesters lay dead.
