The Origins of Street Cries
People have been notating these cries since the 16th century, and they've been putting them into works of classical music. This is an early 19th century cry, but is it really how it would have sounded on the street? I'm not so sure. It's quite melodic. Is that going to penetrate across the whole room? So I want us here to try something a bit more direct. The first one is for oysters. And then another one brought over from Bavaria by a broom. By a broom. A lot of good R rolling in that.
