Many of these players are now more than just a matching layer between supply and demand. They're an edifice that owns physical inventory, operates stores,. in j d's case, even opened a mall now under its own name. If this sort of idea was to be transplanted to china, it may materially change the investment profile of some of these companies. And so there are a number of ways in which regulators around the world are thinking about how to make the playing field more even.
