What Is the Blood Brain Barrier?
The blood band barrier is a series of mechanisms including basically seals called gap junctions between the epithelial cells that surround the capillary. It's very important because it helps protect the brain from toxins and many infections, and also psychoactive substances. Gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide and hormones can get acrossa the blood bain barrier, but many solutes and pathegens can't.
