The Pan-African Congress and the Rise of Higher Education in Africa
In 1945, leading lights of African nationalism and Pan-Africanism including W.E.B. Du Bois made a declaration to the world where they say we want independence and equality. The idea of unmoreing oneself from attachment to or infatuation with Europe was central parts of this project. Aida what strikes me is how incredibly contemporary so much of that language seems.
