The Great Fear Has Been Conquered
In February 1862, the President of the United States walks on Confederate territory. This definitely makes H.T.D.'s list of top 10 moments in Presidential badassery history. The next night, Union forces occupy Norfolk and find that their great naval horror, the Merrimack, will no longer terrorize them. George Little Mac McClellan plans to make a move on the Confederate seat of government, Richmond, Virginia but his plans fall through due to mistakes and delays.
