I'll Keep Typing

I just had an idea that I couldn't see why I couldn't do this, if I kept trying. And then finally, after the third one was rejected, I remember feeling properly crushed. Then I had another idea about two months later, but I only wrote three chapters of that and sent it to the agent who had agreed to represent me. She sold that to, there was a bidding war. In the end, yeah, I got enough in an advance to be able to give up working at the newspaper - which was quite a relief as I was seven months pregnant at the time.
