The Life and Times of Napoleon
When he wasn't reading, attending to his military duties, or embroiled in some family obligation, Napoleon wrote. By the age of 16, he was writing essays and short stories of his own. He also delved back into Jean-Jacques Rousseau, who he was already acquainted with at Brienne but now became cemented as one of his biggest influences. Not all of Napoleon's writing from this period survives, but what we have is mediocre at best.
