The Importance of Treating Accidents Honestly
I was nine when the Chernobyl nuclear disaster happened. The Soviet Union didn't report it at all, despite the danger. Students in Kiev were essentially forced to take part in Mayday demonstrations. It tells you so much about the relationship between the public and the authorities - which is undermined by things like the treatment of the nuclear disaster.
