For GPT to be smart, we would need at least one other criteria, which is something like accuracy. I was taking a kind of accuracy or correctness as to be implicit in that idea of being flexible. It's really for me, if you give it a novel situation, a novel question, then it responds to that and gets a good answer. Like it may well be using knowledge that it's sort of absorbed. And then it takes that knowledge and uses it in a new way. For instance, octopus are a pretty smart animal because they can deal with a new problem that humans have devised for them.
