The Labor Party's Success in the Tasmanian Election
Andrew Nickelich held the seat by 4%, which made it one of the 10 most marginal seats in the country. It was a campaign distinct in Australia's history that mixed national resources with on-the-ground local concerns and spokespeople. The dynamic between the national and the local place, online and offline, all fed into each other. One of the great stories of the night for the Labour Party was the fall of all three of the Liberal seats there to bass. Tasmania has the strongest history of being a Labour state over the decades and it seems to have come roaring back at this election somewhat unexpectedly. This is an enormous 10.6% swing.
