How to Get Boys to Read a Book by JK Rowling

Publishers were concerned that a woman's name on the front of the book would discourage boys from wanting to read it. Joanne Rowling doesn't even have a middle name. The famous JK was made up just for the books. In 1997, the 500 copies of the book were distributed to bookstores and libraries. There was very little marketing budget but it became clear fairly early on that children were telling children about the book.
