The Role of Bilateral Stimulation in Memory Recovery

EMDR was discovered by a psychologist in the late 80s. It's about receiving bilateral stimulation while you and your therapist hold space and think about a memory that together you've kind of excavated as like, this is stuck in causing yuck. And so now EMDR is not just about eye movements but we can also use tapping, tapping back and forth. There's also headphones that can be back and forth in your ears. So when you tax your memory system it allows a memory to reconsolidate.
